These homemade Big Apple Fritters are crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and loaded with fresh apples and cinnamon. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, these deep-fried treats are drizzled with a sweet glaze for the ultimate indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
  3. Toss diced apples with lemon juice, then fold them into the wet ingredients.
  4. Gradually mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over fritters. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for a tart contrast.
  • Adjust glaze consistency with more or less milk.
