Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken strips, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté onions until translucent, then add mushrooms and cook until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture, stirring well to coat. Gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
  • Reduce heat to low, stir in sour cream and heavy cream, and mix until smooth. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating evenly with the sauce.
  • Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, adjust seasoning as needed, and garnish with fresh parsley.
  • Serve hot over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce while simmering.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
  • This dish is also great with beef or pork as a substitute for chicken.
