  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 5-6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Press half into the pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  • In a saucepan, cook apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, vanilla, and lemon juice until softened.
  • Spread apple mixture over the crust. Sprinkle the remaining crust mixture on top.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before slicing into bars.
