  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in molasses, egg, and vanilla; mix well.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined.
  • Spread dough evenly in prepared pan.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until edges are golden.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
