These heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies are the perfect treat for Valentine's Day or any special occasion.   • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Serve as is or decorate with icing if desired.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling for easier handling.
  • Use mini chocolate chips for a more even distribution of chocolate.
